Santos, 16 january 2024 – BTP’s Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Joel Contente, has been elected by the Board of Directors of the São Paulo State Port Operators Union (SOPESP) to serve as vice-president of the institution for the next three-year term, from 2024 to 2026.
Joel Contente, director of BTP and now vice-president of SOPESP, says he is honoured by the opportunity. “Together with the new board, I hope to be able to contribute to the constant development and competitiveness of port operators in the state of São Paulo. SOPESP plays a fundamental role in representing and encouraging dialogue in the port sector,” he says.
Joel Contente is a business administrator with specialisations in management and strategy from FGV, FIA/USP and IBGC. He has an executive career of more than 25 years in national and multinational companies that are reference in the port, chemical and technology sectors, and has held leadership positions in Brazil and abroad.
At BTP, Joel Contente has been in charge of the Administrative Department for 11 years and has successfully led the Human Resources, Legal, Occupational Safety, Environment, Health and Quality areas of South America’s largest container terminal.
